the devil s glen

About a mile (2km) to the north-west is the Devil's Glen. This well known beauty spot is a deep chasm whose craggy sides are covered with trees and shrubs. On entering the glen the Vartry River falls nearly a hundred feet into the 'Devils Punchbowl', a deep basin in the rock below. Walks have been built at a considerable height and there are fine views from them and from the winding pathways around the glen.
