Knockree is a purpose built 5 Star hostel located on the Wicklow Way which re-opened in 2008 after a €4m million refurbishment. It is situated in a wonderful tranquil position, right on the Wicklow Way and commands superb views of Glencree and the mountains that ring it. Enniskerry, 7 kilometres from the hostel, is one of the prettiest villages in Ireland, lying in a wooded hollow among the hills west of Bray. Nearby are Powerscourt demesne and the Glen of the Dargle Our newest 5 star hostel which was previously a converted farmhouse, is set at the bottom of Knockree, overlooking the Glencree Mountains. The Wicklow Way passes through the hostel grounds and so the ideal location for hillwalkers and nature lovers alike. Knockree Hostel boasts all the usual characteristics of a top rated 5 star property including en-suite rooms, family rooms, a ‘honeymoon suite’, meeting room, restaurant for groups, self catering kitchen, full car & coach parking and internet access. It is fully wheelchair accessible also. All rooms will have a spectacular view of the amazing scenery that surrounds this hostel.

By Car: From Dublin, go towards Bray on the N11.Turn off direction of Enniskerry. Once in Enniskerry town centre, go up the Glencree Road, continue approx. 3 miles. Turn left at Hostel sign, continue, and then take next sharp right turn at Hostel sign. Continue for approx 1 mile until you find our hostel on right-hand side By Public Transport: Get to Bray (from Dublin via D.A.R.T.). From Bray station, take bus 185 (€ 1.70 correct change only), all the way to last stop, "Shop River" (note: no actual shop there... ask driver). Get off the bus; keep walking (same direction as the bus was going). Turn left at Hostel sign, continue, and then take next sharp right turn at Hostel sign. Continue for approx 1 mile until you find our hostel on right-hand side. Walking time approx. 40 mins. Alternatively (slightly cheaper - takes longer) you could take bus 44C from Dublin all the way to Enniskerry town centre, then change to the 185 bus there.

This begins in Dublin's southern suburb of Rathfarnham and travels in a south-south-westerly direction across the Dublin and Wicklow uplands, then through the rolling hill country of southwest County Wicklow to finish in the small, County Carlow village of Clonegal 132 kilometres later. A combination of suburban parkland, forest trails, wild and scenic mountain landscape and finally rolling countryside offers a wonderfully varied, 8 to 10 day experience for a hill-walker of average fitness. Knockree Hostel has now teamed up with EcoAdventure Ireland and offers residential and non residential multi activity days or ecology field study days for groups of 20 pax or more. Activities that can be arranged include pony trekking, mountain biking, archery, team building tasks, hillwalking and orienteering. Ecology field studies cover areas relevant to the Junior and Leaving Certificate Curriculum. All activities take part on the grounds across from Knockree Hostel, Co Wicklow.
