Russborough was built in the 18th century and designed by Richard Castle for Joseph Leeson, Earl of Milltown. The building of the house began in about 1741 and took nearly ten years to complete.
The house is built of granite in the Palladian style. The front facade has a fine flight of steps, with heraldic lions and urns, a sweep of graceful curved colonnades crowned on the skyline with Baroque urns, and well proportioned solid flanking wings. It has fine examples of plasterwork by th...
