One of the few surviving houses of the early 17th century in Ireland, this is an L-shaped house which was the first to be taken by Cromwell on his march from Dublin to Wexford in 1649. On the ground floor it has a main hall with a fireplace, a kitchen at right angles and stairs in a tower projecting from one side of the hall. Killruddery House has been the home of the Brabazon family (the Earls of Meath) since 1618. It was completely renovated in 1820 by the 10th Earl. The large and small drawing rooms have particularly fine plasterwork ceilings. There's an Orangery, which was added in 1852, and the house is surrounded by magnificent gardens that date back to the 17th century.

Russborough was built in the 18th century and designed by Richard Castle for Joseph Leeson, Earl of Milltown. The building of the house began in about 1741 and took nearly ten years to complete.
