Desk staff very welcoming but bar staff just ignored me and my wife and served every local first.
Everything about our stay was quite good, except for one thing, this being residents with children had to vacate the bar area at 8.30pm each evening. As we spent quite a bit of time out of the hotel during the day, come evening time we could only take a drink to the room and watch the television until it was time for bed, and three kids in a room early is not good. As all the local bars operated this policy you would think being a resident you could stay longer in the bar. Also the no smoking policy means that a lot of smokers use the front door to smoke, being a nonsmoker with kids this is not very pleasant, no kids in bar after 8.30 but smoke your head of at the front door.....
The Staff were very nice and smiled alot - which is very good. But the Hotel itself is very run down...and old world. The best thing about the Hotel was its location - right on the Sea Front.
In general, the hotel and staff were fine. When booking the hotel I was very excited about the Victorian character, however upon arriving I was disappointed with our very drab room that was crowded with furniture. Even though the room was large and well priced, it did not make for an enjoyable stay.
Very good old hotel, done up to a high standard room big and very clean.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Older hotel in fairly good shape. Large room (#206). Excellent location on the waterfront.
We first met in bray 40 years ago and have been back several times. The town is not as bustling as we remember probably a reflection of the current economic climate. We would have little or no complaint withe overall stay at the Esplanade. staff were excellent always cheerful and efficient. The hotel is a bit worn at the edges, but aren't we all after all the years? We both will stay there again.
it was a nice hotel but i was expecting more from it, however the room was great and comfortable. Also the sinks in the bathroom didnt want to drain so that was a slight issue, other than that would go back again.
The accommodation was very basic and the service in the bar area was poor. The room where we stayed was very noisy due to a wedding party the music was still blaring past 1am.
It was a lovely hotel on the beach front. If you want to visit Bray and be able to imagine it as it may have been years ago this is the place to stay. An enjoyable experience.
No lift to room where we were sleeping. Had baby in a buggy bit difficult. No facilities for children.
hotel staff very polite AND FRIENDLY.
