Staff were very efficient, it was (we thought) just a pit stop before we got early boat next day. Were very surprised at what good value we got as a family of 4. Location is excellent for port.

The hotel was just as impressive and tidy as it seemed on the website. It was very easy to find too, as it is situated on the roadside (there was no traffic noise however). The hotel room was not like the picture on the website - I think the website room picture must have been the honeymoon suite but our room was still nice. My only concern was that all the linen and towels smelt as if they were stored in the kitchen - like chip fat and vinegar! Very strange but everything was spotless and we had a lovely short stay. Restaurant food was amazing and not expensive, staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would certainly go back there.

Room and staff were very good. Perhaps the noise levels between rooms could be better insulated. The cooked breakfast on the first morning was rather overcooked as a result we stuck to cereal and toast for the rest of our stay. Coffee was very weak and tasted rather like a cheap supermarket "own brand" instant variety.

No hairdryer in the room. When asked at reception for one was asked, "Did you come by motor bike?" Room needed a better clean to remove several cobwebs in bathroom. Reported broken light bulb on landing which was replaced.

We enjoyed our stay at Danby Lodge though we think we should have been informed at time of booking that a lot of the rooms are outdoor chalets. Also breakfast time there seems a bit unorganised. Tables were partially set. Had to ask each morning for our tea & toast

We went for a wedding, which was held in the function room of the hotel, if we had a choice we probably would not stay there again. Rooms were ok- our bathroom door did not shut and you could clearly hear those in the next room- so silence as they say is golden. TV was very small and in the top corner- so very hard to see. I had to ask for a hairdryer. The residents bar was small, the choice of breakfast was fine- cereal, yoghurt and a full Irish- so all in all for the price not bad value.

Good location for Ferry, staff pleasant/polite, but the hotel knows that people are catching the early ferries and no breakfast facilities are offered - theres lots of the B&Bs and hotels who dont cater for the early travellers- so the rates should be cheaper and room only.
