Ballymore retains many features which have survived from past periods of occupation in an attractive setting of mature trees, ordered landscape and views of the surrounding countryside.
Once the centre of small country estate, the tenanted lands were sold to occupiers early this century, leaving the residence and home farm where seasonal farming activities continue throughout the year.
The Visitors' facility adjoins the residence, and in the parking area provided, a large scale map indicates the route visitors are requested to follow. This allows a leisurely ramble around several interesting features leading to the tea room, the museum, picture gallery and display of old farming equipment in part of the farmyard. The residence itself is private and not open to the public.
Seasonal farming activities may occasionally obstruct access, and visitors are asked to look out and make way for passing livestock and farm vehicles.
The present Church was built in 1869 on the site of the much earlier medieval building of which nothing now survives except a carved wooden door lintel.

Description
The Church is in regular use as part of Ferns Union of Parishes under the Church of Ireland rector in Ferns. The graveyard is of great antiquity and continued to be used until recently. An annual Patron is held in July when graves are traditionally cleared and decorated.
The large reconstructed Greenhouse is the setting for the tea room and refreshment facility. It copies substantially the original greenhouse built around 1820 along with the walled garden behind and connected Gardenhouse which now contains the Kitchen. The old heating system and wooden staging have been removed to provide needed space. Toilets are next to the Gardenhouse.
The Museum and display area open out from this small courtyard. The Museum itself is in a large converted hayloft in the period farmyard buildings. The contents of the Museum are from the family home and farmyard and illustrate many different features of earlier occupation and activity. The old Dairy contains a display of old dairy equipment and many other domestic items. The further display area includes pieces of older farm equipment and hand tools used when the horse was the only source of motive power.
The Picture Gallery is located below the Museum in what was the farm stables. It displays a selection of paintings and drawings of local scenes and activities by the much admired artist Phoebe Donovan.
Another feature is the old water wheel now on display in the same farm building.
Tea room Sundays only or pre-arranged
