It has five luxury guestrooms ranging from a single, double and twin and most are ensuite. The gardens and grounds that surround the house are quite a treat, and you can take a stroll around the lake and admire the breathtaking views.
Mornington House has a great base for touring the midlands. It is especially close to the Loughcrew Cairns, one of the largest complex of passage graves in Ireland. Some other attractions worth a visit include Athlone Castle, Belvedere House and Gardens, Clonmacnoise and Locke's Distillery. Outdoor activities nearby the accommodation include angling, golfing and horse riding. And within a short drive you can enjoy activities like clay pigeon shooting, greyhound racing, or a romantic cruise in the Shannon.
Directions
From the N4 take the R394 north 8km to Crookedwood. Turn left at The Wood Pub and take the first right junction 2km away. The house is on the right.
