John McCormack (1884 - 1945) started his singing career in a church choir in Athlone. In time he became the greatest lyric tenor of his day. His repertoire ranged from popular ballads to opera of which he was a fine exponent.
The aims of this truly international event are to assist young classical singers to achieve recognition, further their studies and of course, to provide music lovers with a unique opportunity to sample the very best in emerging talent.
