Castletown Geoghegan
The village of Castletown Geoghegan can be found on the R391, approximately 9 miles from Mullingar. One of the principal ancient families of Westmeath, the MacEochagains, gave their name to this village. There is a motte in the village which date from Norman times, while a boulder at the south-east of the village is reputed to be the inauguration chair of the MacEochagains.
