Renowned art critic and historian, Richard Cork has curated a show that will transform the gallery at Lismore Castle with installations, screenings and sculpture that offer a challenge to what art in general, and sculpture in particular, might be. SCHEDULE OF TALKS June 8th : 2.30pm IRISH SCULPTURE 800-1600 Dr. Peter Harbison (Professor of Archaeology, Royal Hibernian Academy) Dr Peter Harbison was born in Dublin and educated at Glenstal, UCD and various universities in Germany. He is an Honorary Academic Editor at the Royal Irish Academy, Professor of Archaeology in the Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts, and an Honorary Fellow of Trinity College Dublin.He worked for many years with the Irish Tourist Board, first as an archaeologist and later as Editor of ‘Ireland of the Welcomes’ magazine. He has written widely on Irish art and archaeology. His many books include two on High Crosses, three on eighteenth-century antiquarian drawings, and among his most recent works are Ancient Irish Monuments, The Golden Age of Irish Art and The Crucifixion in Irish Art. He was co-author of Ancient Ireland and Irish Art and Architecture and he revised and updated The Shell Guide to Ireland. He has lectured widely on both sides of the Atlantic.
