I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel is an institution in Waterford and I thought it might be dowdy and out of date. It was anything but! The room decor was clean bright and tasteful, the food was excellent and the service was very good. Staff were helpful and friendly and all in all we had no complaints. Good value for money too!
Excellent rooms, very nice hotel foyer. Staff were helpful and friendly on arrival and departure. Restaurant food was not as good as we would have liked and service was patchy - there was a tour group in at the time. Wine service was slow.
Most staff were friendly although reception staff could work a little harder at their customer service skills. Our room on arrival smelt very strongly of stale smoke but we were moved to a smoke free smelling room by a very professional male member of staff who was very helpful. Rooms were quite old fashioned but very comfortable although we had a room to the front of the hotel on the main road which was very noisy and we had trouble getting to sleep. Overall it was a pleasent stay and good value for money on the night we stayed.
Comfortable, friendly and good vfm.
The breakfast was excellent - friendly staff - good value for money
The public areas are absolutely gorgeous. The staff at the desk, restaurant and pub were all very helpful. The rooms are clean and sufficient but don't necessarily match the style and decor of the public areas. Location is great. I would definitely stay here again.
A friendly homely hotel. The customer was valued.
Availability of the owner Liam Cusak, and the willingness of the staff to make you feel at home.
We had a very pleasant stay, but the breakfast service was very poor and the food was so over cooked we could barely eat it. It was a terrible way to end our stay.
Very good
Beautiful hotel. very clean and neat. comfortable beds. 1. dinner was pretty awful. staff seemed to be juggling a wedding, serving in the restaurant and making up tables for breakfast. Waited over 30 minutes between finishing starter and getting main course. all plates dangerously hot with dried (probably re-heated) food on them. 2. in spite of 'do not disturb' sign on door, chambermaid came into room while I was in bathroom. not a big deal but delayed me as I could not get dressed until she finished. overall impression that staff are instructed to get things done, i.e. rooms, before finishing up regardless of customers wants. would stay again but would ask for dinner to be changed to lunch as carvery quality was far better than restaurant. I find that usually the opposite is the case.

The Granville staff were very friendly in all areas and the Hotel is very clean The Hotel is very well located
Elegant hotel. The pub staff were very friendly and helpful in guiding us to local attractions.
Nice hotel with character, friendly staff. Good hotel bar. Food in restaurant was average.
Staff very accommodating...
I felt the staff were very friendly but little things with the service I was dispointed with. For example I was sitting in the lounge and there was a large group of men sitting at the bar laughing and talking. As I didn't want to go to the bar on my own I asked a waiter to get me a drink and he informed me he was on food. Another touch was missing was not having water in the bedrooms. I have been in the same priced hotels and it added an special touch.Overall i was happy and would stay again.I always give an evaluation when I stay in hotels but in this instance I didn't have an opportunity.
Many thanks for taking the time to write your review. As always comments are greatly appreciated as they are both good and constructive and are a very important tool in maintaining our standards. Your comments have been taken on board and will be communicated so that we should be more aware to recognize our guest needs. Also it's not our policy to have mineral water in the bedrooms; however I do hear what you are saying. However I don't feel at this present time we will put it in the rooms but please when you stay again let me know and I will have it in your room.
Once again many thanks and we look forward to being of service to you in the future.
Very enjoyable!
This was our second time to stay at the Granville and we would definitely go back again. We have recommended it to our friends.

Lovely rooms coupled with a relaxed warm atmosphere, all for a very resonable price.
Nice room, excellent food, very central.
The Granville is a lovely ideally located hotel right in the centre of town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our baby was only 11 months old when we stayed and she was very happy there too.
Excellent location. I thought that the staff were polite, friendly and approachable at all times.
Great - we were two girls travelling together on a budget and decided to splash out at the Granville while in Waterford. The staff we excellent - very friendly. There was a wedding going on so quite a lot of buzz! Good fun! Thanks
Out of all the hotels we stayed this was the best. The food was good, hotel very clean, staff very helpful and friendly. Outlook over the river good. We would definitely stay here again if we revisit Ireland.
