Description
Description
The Dunmore East Golf Classic is a four person Team Event over four superb courses of Waterford, Tramore, Waterford Castle and Faithlegg golf clubs. All within 10 miles of each other.

Waterford Golf Club: Attractive parkland course designed by the great James Braid who was Open Champion on five occasions. Waterford is particularly renowned for the quality of its greens and for its friendly atmosphere. The first nine demand accuracy for the tee. The back nine is more forgiving and features a great stretch with a classic finishing hole. Here the drive is struck from an elevated tee with a 360 degree view, to a narrow fairway which winds its way downhill, between score threatening gorse, to a receptive green 400 yards away.

Tramore Golf Club: This view from the clubhouse is magnificent, embracing as it does practically the whole course with the lofty Comeragh Mountains in the distant background. On this site, which is gently undulating, intercepted by two streams, Captain H.C. Tippet of Walton Heat has laid out as magnificent an 18-hole championship course as ever pleased the eye.

Waterford Castle Golf Club: The course itself, which has been designed by Des Smyth and Associates is a par 72 and measures 6,790 yards, making it international championship standard. Ireland's only true Island golf course has been built on 250 acres and has complete irrigation systems on all tees, greens and fairways. Drainage is a natural feature, with broken sandstone rock prevailing throughout the course making it playable twelve months a year. The course is surrounded by captivating views of the River Suir and countryside of Waterford, Wexford and Kilkenny. The waterway to the Port of Waterford helps to complete the ambience as shipping and pleasure vessels make their way past the Island.

Faithlegg Golf Club: Faithlegg, an 18 hole, 72 par parkland golf course ranked by "Gold World" in the top ten best new courses in Britain and Ireland in 1993. Some wicked slopes and burrows on the immaculate greens, undulating fairways and strategically placed water hazards are just some of the novel features incorporated into Faithlegg. This classic site on the banks of the River Suir, backed by period residence, is ideal for players seeking tranquility and a golf challenge. Societies and visitors are always welcome. Clubhouse provides full bar and restaurant facilities.
