This charming thatched cottage in the beautiful Blackwater Valley is just a mile outside of Aglish village. A famine cottage, with a traditional half-door, it is lovingly restored and includes a large peat-burning open fire. Briar Rose cottage is within walking distance of the local village with its shop, pub, petrol station and church.

A cosy interior awaits you. The living room/kitchen boasts a large ornate fireplace which will create a warm glow during the winter months. The fitted kitchen is compact and functional, with a small window that looks out to the rear garden.

There is a welcome cup of tea and a biscuit, or some homemade bread when you arrive. There are pleanty of DVDs in case you want a night in. The fire will be set and ready in case there is a chill in the air. The beds will be made for you. You will find a hairdryer, an iron, a washing machine, a radio and a TV - everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

From Rosslare take the N25 for Cork. Pass through the village of Lemybrien Co.Waterford and continue for approx 5 miles, turn right onto the N72 (signposted Mallow & Lismore). Continue for approx 7 miles, turn right onto R671 (signposted Clashmore & Youghal). Continue for approx 3 miles. Turn right into the village of Aglish. Drive through the village and take the left fork (signposted Youghal). Continue for approx 1 mile. Briar Rose Cottage is on the left hand side of the road.

Description

There is excellent shopping in both Cork and Waterford and possible excursions include Lismore Castle, Kilkenny Castle, the Rock of Cashel and the Jameson Centre in Midleton. Ardmore, with its blue flag fine sandy beach and safe swimming and the holy Mount Mellary Abbey are nearby. The Clock Tower in Youghal is one of the finest in Ireland. The Dromana Drive has a unique Indian influenced gateway built for returning honeymooners in the 1800s. The Comeragh Mountain range is just a short drive away. It is designated as an area of outstanding beauty and is ideal for nature lovers and walkers with its beautiful waterfalls, woods and unspoilt lakes.

If you are feeling more adventurous there are water sports and adventure centres, golf courses and horse riding within a 10 mile radius. There are plenty of restaurants with everything from fast food to award winning cordon bleu cuisine. You will find music in the pubs at night and a warm welcome everywhere you go. Whatever your taste this wonderful cottage and outstanding area is sure to impress. You will feel so at home you will not want to leave.
