Walking Holidays in Ireland Guided one centre walk in Galway and Mayo ENQUIRE ABOUT THIS TOUR Tour Ref: GM This walking tour provides 5 days relaxed walking of up to 8 miles (12 km) daily in scenic Counties Galway and Mayo in the Mid/North West of Ireland. From your base in Westport, you will enjoy different walks each day to ramble and explore quiet coutnry lanes, bog roads and coastal paths. An ideal break for those who like their walking without too much effort. Westport nestles under the shadow of Croagh Patrick, overlooking Clew Bay and its enchanting islands, the town weaves its spell around everyone it meets. For the duration of your holiday you will be based in a comfortable Irish Tourish Board approved country house in Westport, Co. Mayo.
DAY 1	Arrival Optional pick up at Westport train station. Dinner and briefing with guide at 17.00hrs.
DAY 2	The Western Way: We begin our day with a visit to the unforgettable Kylemore Abbey, taking in old famine ruins along the route. Distance: 6 miles - Low level
DAY 3	Walk on the shoulder of Croagh Patrick: We begin our day with a visit to the unforgettable Kylemore Abbey. Today's walk is still on the Western Way and we finish in the village of Leenane, made famous as the location of the movie The Field. Leenane Village is reported to have the smallest population of any village in Ireland. Distance 9 miles/14km - Low level
DAY 4	Walk on Clare Island: Today we visit Ireland's national Famine Monument, walk the pilgrim path to the 1st station of Croagh Patrick, then take the southern route to pick up the Mayo section of the Western Way back to back. Distance 7 miles/ 11km - Ascent 1600ft/500m
DAY 5	Option Day: Today you have the choice of just relaxing and discovering the lovely town of Westport. There are some wonderful craft shops, pottery art galleries and bookshops.
DAY 6	Killary Harbour Walk: Todays walk continues on the western way and we finish in the village of Leenane made famous as the location of the movie �The Field�. 9 miles- Low level
DAY 7	Clew Bay: We end the week with a breathtaking walk along the base of the Nephin Mountain Range. Distance: 7 miles- Low level
DAY 8	Departure: After your final Irish breakfast, you may avail of the optional transfer to Westport Railway Station.
