This three centre walking tour based in hotels and guesthouses, provides the richest variety of geology, scenery and walking conditions that could be desired. The walks cover three very different areas - the Burren, the Aran Islands and Connemara - which are however geographically close to each other, therefore avoiding long coach transfers. During this tour you can look forward to seeing the world famous Cliffs of Moher, a flight with spectacular views over the West Coast of Ireland to the Aran Islands, two nights on the Aran Islands and the visit of Dun Aengus, the internationally renowned karst limestone habitat of the Burren and Connemara's lake dotted bog land, mountains and seascape.

 

DAY 1 Arrival
Optional complimentary transfer from Shannon airport (coach leaves airport at 16.00 Hrs) Arrival at accommodation in Lisdoonvarna, renowned for traditional Irish music. Dinner and briefing with your guide.
DAY 2 Cliffs of Moher and Atlantic Coast
A choice of gentle walks by the Atlantic Coast will be offered, along the world-renowned and spectacular Cliffs of Moher, to allow you to explore the countryside, breathe in that wild Irish Atlantic air and the dramatic scenery, while introducing yourself to Irish walking.Distance 5 miles/8km
DAY 3 The Burren.
The Burren is a unique internationally-important habitat. You can explore it through a combination of walking on green roads and traversing of the karst limestone pavements, interspersed with rare arctic and alpine flowers. Overnight in Lisdoonvarna.Distance 8 miles/13Km: Ascent 900ft/275m
DAY 4 The Aran Islands.
Short flight over the dramatic west coast to the Irish-speaking Aran Islands. Walk to the southeast of the island to spectacular cliffs and puffing holes. Carry on to the Iron Age Black Fort (Dun Duchatair). Overnight and dinner on Aran Islands, where you will have the opportunity to see a traditional Irish music and dance show or just enjoy the music and musical sound of the Irish language in one of the traditional pubs. Distance: up to 8 miles/14Km: Ascent little or none.
DAY 5 The Aran Islands - Dun Aonghasa
Visit archaeological sites including the pre-historic fort, Dun Aonghasa and Poll na bPeist (worm hole), all set in a stony landscape from which a living was laboriously wrenched. Overnight on the Aran Islands. Distance: up to 13 miles/21Km: Ascent little or none.
DAY 6 Roundstone
A short flight takes you back to the Irish mainland, where you will be transferred to the famous North West Region of Connemara. Enjoy the views of the island dotted Atlantic coastline and the Clifden bog from Errisbeg, a small mountain behind the village of Roundstone. Overnight and dinner in Connemara.
DAY 7 The Connemara Coast
Walk along the shore of Killary Harbour - Ireland's only fjord. A ten mile walk on the 'Famine Trail' through Connemara mountain scenery - lakedotted bogland rich in flora. Overnight and dinner in Connemara.Distance: upto 10 miles/16Km:
DAY 8 Departure
After your final Irish breakfast, optional complimentary transfer to Shannon Airport.

Transfers: Shannon Airport at 16.00 on Saturdays from the information point in the arrivals hall. Return transfer arrives at Shannon Airport at 11.00 on Saturdays.

Note: These transfers must be confirmed at time of booking with flight numbers and times for arrival and departure. If these transfers aren't confirmed at time of booking we will assume they are making their own way to their first nights accommodation. Arrangements can be made for a private taxi transfer (at clients own expense) should the Go Ireland transfer timetable not suit.
