Wonderful leisurely walking and cycling tour based in Kerry.
This is the perfect itinerary for families and those who wish to combine walking and cycling at a leisurely pace, as well as for those who wish to participate in one of Ireland's most spectacular day trips.
An ideal introduction to activity breaks, suitable for ages from 10 years +. Two days guided walking, 8-12 miles each day through Killarney National Park and on spectacular coastal routes. An option day is followed by two days cycling, at your own pace, around Killarney's Lakes and Fells, with a choice of detailed maps and route descriptions. A boat trip through the famous Lakeland of Killarney is a dramatic finale.
Day 1 - Arrival
Arrival at your family run guesthouse in Glenbeigh (for 3 nights). Dinner and briefing with your guide.
Day 2 - Dooks Beach and 'Mountain', Distance: 12km/7.5miles Ascent: 50m/165ft
A gentle walk on road, bog road and beach allows you to experience a variety of habitats (blanket bog, sand dune, freshwater lake/stream and seashore) as well as to view peat cuttings. End the walk with a visit to Ireland's only Bog Village museum where you can see how people lived in olden days.
Day 3 - Kerry Way (Kells-Glenbeigh), Distance: 17km/10.5miles Ascent: 300m/1,000ft
This walk takes you on the early Christian route and medieval coaching road, with detours to view archaeological artefacts, views across Dingle Bay and a possible diversion to a beach for a swim in the Atlantic Ocean. O
Day 4 - The Kerry Way (Glenbeigh- Glencar) Distance: 17km/10.5m Ascent 270m/900ft
Today you'll walk from the seside village of Glenbeigh to Seefin Mountain and on into the beautiful valley of the Caragh River to Glencar.
Day 5 - Transfer/Free Day
Transfer to the scenic town of Killarney which is known worldwide for its beauty. Enjoy the National Park, Torc Waterfall, Muckross House and the livelys cafes, pubs and shops in the town itself.
Day 6 - Killarney National Park
Pick up your bike at O'Sullivans Bike Shop and off you go on one of the many adventurous trails in the renowned Killarney National Park. You'll see many animals and sights in the park which include, Dinis Cottage, Muckross Abbey and Torc Waterfall.
Day 7 - Lakes of Killarney Boat Trip
Today, you can enjoy a breathtaking boat trip through the famous Three Lakes of Killarney. Enjoy lunch at Lord Brandons Cottage before you choose to either cycle, go on horseback or in a jaunting car through the Gap of Dunloe (7 miles). The tour starts at Ross Castle (15th century) and ends at the renowned 19th century Kate Kearneys Cottage where you can enjoy an Irish coffee before being transferred back to Killarney. If you don't feel like walking you can hop on one of the jaunting carts (€20-€30)
Day 8 - Departure
After your final Irish Breakfast in your guesthouse, you may opt for an optional transfer to either Shannon or Kerry Airport (see below for transfer times)

Accommodation is based on a twin sharing basis. A limited number of single rooms are available at a supplement of Euro 189.00 for the week

Shannon Airport to Kerry ( 9th May - 3rd October) at 12.00 on Saturdays from the information point in the arrivals hall. Return transfer arrives at Shannon Airport at 11.00am on Saturdays.

Public transport options-
You can catch a shuttle bus which operates frequently between Shannon and Limerick city. From Limerick city, you can then hop on a Bus Eireann bus to Killarney or Tralee.

Kerry Airport to accommodation transfers run throughout the year, between 07.00 and 18.00 Hrs on Saturdays. Return transfer arrives at Kerry Airport between 07.00 and 18.00 Hrs on Saturdays.

Public Transport options-
There is a very frequent bus service operating from Kerry Airport to Killarney and Tralee daily.
Cork Airport
Hop on the shuttle bus that operates between Cork Airport and Cork bus station. Here you can get a bus to Killarney which should take about 1hr 20 minutes.
Dublin Airport
Fly with Ryanair to Kerry Airport or get a train from Hueston Station which will drop you to Killarney or Tralee.

These transfers must be confirmed at time of booking with flight numbers and times for arrival and departure. If these transfers aren't confirmed at time of booking we will assume they are making their own way to their first nights accommodation. Refunds are not provided for any unused portions of transfer. Arrangements can be made for a private taxi transfer (at clients own expense) should the Go Ireland transfer timetable/public transport timetable not suit.
