Small Conifer/broadleaved forest....

There are a number of interesting walks through this forest park which is situated just outside Clogher. One of the shortest of these is the river walk which is a mere 3/4 mile long. Two other very pleasant walks are through woodland with impressive broad leaved trees and adjoin the picnic area....

The Forest Park was opened in 1967 and embraces over 405 hectares of the much larger forest of Gortin Glen. This high moisture and cool climate waterlog the soil so that normal breakdown of plant remains is extremely slow. Because of this, peat covers large areas of upland. It is known as blanket bog.
