Two churches still standing on an old monastic site founded by St.. Mochoemog who died in 655. The smaller church is the older of the two, though its date is unknown. The west doorway and the east window have been restored, but the door was probably flat-headed. The church has antae. The larger church was begun in the 12th century, but this church was later considerably altered.
The north and east walls of the chancel are the oldest parts of the present church, and they formed part of the original church which had antae at the east end. A chancel was added to this, but nothing remains of it except the foundations to the east of the present church (though remains of the chancel arch can be seen in the exterior of the east wall of the church). Around the 15th century, the old nave was made into a new chancel (and the old chancel probably knocked down), while a totally new nave was built which may never have been completed. The stones used in the new chancel arch were probably brought from elsewhere.

Description
At the same time the south wall, the vault and the living quarters over the chancel were built. some 12th century fragments are built into the wall.
The base of a Round Tower came to light during excavations in 1969-70. In the field surrounding the churches are a number of earthworks, which represent occupation(though not necessarily entirely monastic) from A.D. 1000-1700, some overlain by 17th century houses.
