Lar Na Pairce The Story Of The Gaelic Games
Lar Na Pairce The Story Of The Gaelic Games
Description
Lar Na Pairce, a fascinating exhibition telling the story of Gaelic Games, was officially opened by the President of Ireland, her excellency Mary Robinson in November 1994. Housed in an elegant 19th century building in Thurles, Co. Tipperary, Lar Na Pairce takes the visitor back to legendary times and traces the story of Gaelic Games up to the present day.
The various exhibits invite the visitor to experience the excitement and colour of Hurling, Football, Camogie and Handball and include displays on Cuchulainn, Landlords, Hurley Making, Broadcasting, Hall of Fame and many other historical references. Lar na Pairce also includes the Sun Melbourne Collection of Gaelic Athletic Association Memorabilia and Artefacts, including the worlds oldest hurley, as well as offering a unique information database on the great players from every county.
Visitors, young and old, are invited to visit Lar na Pairce to experience this great part of our national heritage and will not be disappointed with the experience.
