A unique location, lovely grounds and an interior that made us feel like we had stepped back to another era. We liked it very much.
Markree Castle is renowned for its comfort and home-from-home atmosphere, spectacular views and delicious food. Horse riding, fishing and walking are available on the estate and archery and clay pigeon shooting are available by prior arrangement.
Dinner is served each evening and a light lunch and afternoon tea of homemade biscuits and scones is available daily in the gallery and lounge.
Chef Jacques Bascolergue's experience travelling and working all over the world is seen in the unique and authentic cuisine at Markree's Knockmuldowney Restaurant. Here he combines world tastes with only the very best in local ingredients to create a menu of gastronomic delights that will tempt every taste bud. Woodcock and wild fallow venison from the Markree estate are a seasonal specialty.
