It was a well built, modern cottage that was well appointed and comfortable to live in. Its central location in Ireland allowed us to make sightseeing trips, as planned, to both West and East coast towns as well as northern and southern areas, in reasonable times, using the new Motorways. There were only a very few negatives. One was the noise level of the passing traffic, as the cottage was close beside the Athlone to Rosscommon road and there was a considerable amount of traffic, even during the night. A second was inadequate lighting in the kitchen. In this day and age the absence of Internet was a deficiency for us. 15 mile distant Internet Cafes were expensive and inconvenient when we needed to confirm or change Air and Ferry plans.
