Harbour Masters House Welcome to Harbour Masters House, which is a beautiful countryhouse bed and breakfast, located right on the banks of the Grand Canal near Birr in County Offaly.
Harbour Master House was built in 1806 and today retains most of it original character and charm from that period. The house is tastefully furnished throughout and is extremely comfortable creating that special home from home ambience. Guests can look forward to open fires, modern convenience and a warm welcome from your host Grainne.

From east leave N6 at Kilbeggan to Ferbane. Left in Ferbane, continue to Cloghan, right turn at roundabout, left at Clononey Castle. Shannon Harbour 3km.
The village is where you'll find fishing and boating facilities as well as the local traditional pubs. Boats, engines and bikes are also available locally. If you want to play a round of golf, golfing breaks can be organised by your hosts. The countryside of Offaly is dotted with some wonderful attractions like the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre, Birr Castle, Slieve Bloom Environmental Mountain Park and Leap Castle.
The bed and breakfast is surrounded by beautiful manicured gardens, the perfect spot to sit back and unwind. The Harbour Masters House has a peaceful rural setting, yet it's close to the picturesque village of Shannon Harbour and 7km from the town of Birr.
The whole village has been upgraded with a 1.6 million grant to help tourism. There is a lovely seating, picnic area, children’s play area and parking on the waterfront in front of The Harbour Masters House where you can relax and enjoy the countryside.
Harbour Masters House boasts five cosy guestrooms including two double rooms, two twin rooms and a triple room. All rooms have their own ensuite. In room facilities include hairdryer and TV. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the guest lounge.

The innkeeper was extremely helpful and went out of her way to make this part of our trip successful. Rooms very small but her attitude and welcome made it worth overlooking.
After a day touring County Offaly, guests can relax with their favourite book in front of an open fire or chat to the other guests in the lounge area. A delicious breakfast is served each morning from 8am to 10am in the dining room and guests can admire the beautiful landscape garden while tucking in to a traditional Irish or continental breakfast. There is also laundry facilities, which are smart card operated located across the road from the B&B. Harbour Masters House is family friendly, childrens meals are available and Internet access is available for guests use.
