CASTLE PALOOZA – A ROYAL HIT! (1st a and 2nd of August 2009 )
This August Bank Holiday weekend boasts Ireland's best, boutique, Music & Arts Festival, Castle Palooza.  Now in it's fourth year, the festival is finally getting the recognition it deserves, both here and abroad, having been nominated for “Best European Festival” in the U.K. Festival Awards in 2008. This exclusive two-day festival will again take place in the magical Charleville Castle, Tullamore - where 2,500 lucky ticket holders will enjoy a fun-filled weekend of music, entertainment and art.

Cherrycool Promotions is very excited about this year’s line up, spread across two stages, Metro Main & Le Boudoir. “At Castle Palooza we pride ourselves on showcasing both well known and up and coming Irish acts, as well as international stars.  The festival programme includes a range of music genres from electronic and rock to traditional and bluegrass. Year on year our intention is to include more international artists in our programme as this will increase the popularity and awareness of the festival at home and abroad,” said Cillian Stewart, Festival Director.

Our first round of acts include: David Kitt, Project Jenny Project Jan, R.S.A.G, Channel One, Robotnik, The Lost Brothers, Dark Room Notes, Noise Control, 8 Ball, Glint, Le Galaxie, Nell Bryden, The Ambience Affair, Followers of Otis, Patrick Kelleher & DJ’s Tu-Ki, Baz and Steve Reddy to name but a few. Many more acts to be announced…

Aside from the music, this year the festival will also include lots of other entertainment - from the live Rocky Horror Picture Show; a Ceilí; dance workshops (including disco, burlesque, bollywood & circus tricks); performance artists, exhibitions and comedy to a cocktail bar and the now infamous party bus. And let’s not forget the hot showers and proper flushing loos! For those who don’t like tents, the Castle is close to Tullamore town centre and various hotels & B&B’s will have special pricing over the weekend.

The Rainforest Day Spa, which will be located inside the Castle, will be available for those who party hard and need some tender loving care and recuperation. The Spa will provide massage, manicures, pedicures and blow-dries, all in the comfort of the castles restored Morning Room, by an open fire.

Two-day tickets including camping are only €89 but there are also a range of tickets this year to accommodate those who would like something even more special…

‘Couples Treat Yourself Tickets’ will include two weekend passes with camping, pitched tent ready on arrival, duvet and pillows, chocolates, a cool bottle of premium champagne & breakfast in bed including a Sunday paper…all for only €299. If you don’t fancy sharing your sleeping quarters, why not treat yourself to a ‘Singles Treat Yourself Ticket’ for just €179 which includes all the above luxuries.

Tickets are limited to a 2,500 capacity festival & are available on www.castlepalooza.com & from usual outlets.

Castle Palooza is in aid of the Charleville Castle restoration project. A portion of each ticket will go towards the ongoing work carried out on one of Irelands historic landmarks, so everyone will be doing their bit to help keep this historic landmark alive.

“I feel that the programming and creative aspect of Castle Palooza 2009 will really step up the show. This, combined with our continued commitment to keeping numbers under 2,500 and the uniqueness of our venue will ensure that people can have all the experiences and adventures of a bigger festival with the intimacy and magic of a real boutique event” said Cillian Stewart, Festival Director. “We are also a much more affordable option than the other two giants at either end of the summer!”

See www.castlepalooza.com for limited tickets, further details & updates.

In addition to the music we will have an art exhibition featuring an Irish artist and dance workshops, both of which will take place inside the ballroom in the Castle.

There will we a market village, featuring stalls selling jewellery, clothing and crafts.

For 2009 there will also be the addition of a full theatre show and a traditional Ceilí.

And let's not forget the free hot showers and proper flushing loos! For those who don't like tents, the Castle is close to Tullamore town centre, and various hotels. B&B's will have special pricing over the weekend.

Castlepalooza was shortlisted in the 'Best European Festival' category at this year's UK Festival Awards.

Over the last three years Castle Palooza has become notorious for new innovations in the Irish festival scene.

In 2007 it launched the first ever off-licence at a festival & this year they are focusing on reducing their carbon footprint, by providing heat & power to the free hot showers with the use of solar panels.

Another new addition to the festival is The Sanctuary Wellness Centre, which will be located inside the Castle. For those who party hard and need some tender loving care and recuperation, The Sanctuary will provide massage, reflexology, facials, manicures and pedicures - all in the comfort of the restored Morning Room in the castle, by an open fire. A luxurious and mellow escape from the festival fun.

Opening Dates

Described as a pocket version of Electric Picnic with added class (The Essential Guide to Festivals UK & Ireland), Ireland's best new festival (Hot Press 2006) & it should win an award for logical thinking" (The Ticket, 2007), Castle Palooza promises to live up to and exceed this reputation in 2009.
