Description
The village of Laytown, on the north bank of the Nanny Water estuary in the towland of Ninch, has evidenc of an Iron Age settlement in the form of a burial mound. Reference to Laytown appears in the annals of Ulser at A.D. 852 which mentions a battle there, in which Maelseachlainm and flann slew 200 foreigners.
