Enjoy the authentic rural setting of this holiday home in Enfield, Co. Meath.  The house has mature gardens, log fire, TV,  video and DVD.  Surrounded by green fields and grazing sheep, this is a haven of peace and relaxation.

Directions

From Dublin Airport to Clonard:

  • From Dublin Airport - at roundabout take the 2nd exit (signposted Way Out).
     
  • At Airport roundabout take the 2nd exit (signposted Dublin, Belfast).
     
  • At next roundabout take the 2nd exit, then join the M1 motorway (signposted Dublin).
     
  • Leave the M1 at junction 1, then at roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the M50 (signposted Southbound).
     
  • Leave the M50 at junction 7 and follow signs for Sligo onto the N4.
     
  • Continue forward onto the M4 (Signposted Sligo).
     
  • Leave the M4 at Junction 8, last exit before the Toll and cross over the motorway onto the R148 Road to Enfield. 
     
  • Continue on the R148 to the town of Enfield, (go though the town - stay off the bypass of the town) and look for signs for Kinnegad, Clonard and Sligo.
     
  • Travel straight on this road till you see (on right hand side) a Gas Station and Supermarket (Callagys Londis).
     
  • Striaght after the Gas Station, make a right at the next junction (signposted Longwood and Trim).
     
  • Continue on this road till you come to a Stop Sign at 4 way cross roads.
     
  • Go straight through the cross roads and you will travel over a Bridge - River Boyne.
     
  • Shortly after this you will come to a V in the road, bear right at the V and "Iona" is the first house on your right after that.

The four-bedroom house sleeps up to six people.

Close to the River Boyne and the Royal Canal, this is an ideal location for touring the midlands of Ireland. Popular activities include fishing, boating, walking, and cycling.  The town of Mullingar is only 20 minutes away and Trim is 15 minutes away. Dublin is easily accessible and only 1 hour by car.  The historical sites of Newgrange, Hill of Tara, and Slane are all within an hour's drive of the property.

Mature couple

We had a wonderful time. Trudy is an excellent host. She's warm and friendly and met us with scones which were delicious. She helped us celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary by taking pictures and camcording us. Otherwise she made herself scarce, which allowed us to tour Ireland at our leisure - although she was a phone call away if we needed her for anything. She's terrific! The accommodations exceeded our expectations. The cottage was clean and well-kept. It provided us with everything we needed for our stay.

It's been a great holiday, the house was great, clean and fully equipped it's a pity that due to the bad weather we lost 4 days from our holiday. Surely we will be back.....
