The twin resorts of Laytown/Bettystown are situated on the short strip of coastline which is Co. Meath's only outlet to sea. Here are six unbroken miles of magnificent white sand. Laytown is famous for its annual strand races, the only race meeting of its kind in world held on a shore line. Laytown also has Ireland's only ecology centre which provides education towards a lifestyle which is environmentally friendly....

This course measures over 1 mile and 4 furlongs. Both flat and jump races are held here. There are many race days held here through out the year, including Ladies' Day in October.

The racecourse is situated 23 miles north of Dublin, off the main Dublin-Belfast road and 7 miles south of Drogheda. The race track measures 1 mile and 1 furlong. The first race ever held here was in 1726.
