TIR SAILE The North Mayo Sculpture Trail begins in Ballina and follows the coastal route through Ballycastle to Belmullet. In creating The Trail, sculptors were invited to participate from Denmark, Japan, Great Britain, The U.S.A. and Ireland. Working together they used the integral vitality of the landscape, its water, earth, rock, space and growing things to make a statement about the place and the people that live there. Tir Saile marks the celebration of Mayo 5000 by its concentrated artistic endeavours in the landscape. It uses the media of earth and stone, thus ensuring that something of the trail - a trace- will survive in the landscape of Mayo for the next 5000 years.

Covering areas of unspoilt beauty, breath-taking scenery, along some of the remotest areas of the coastal strip of North West Mayo.
