The Old Deanery Holiday Cottages are a group of eight holiday cottages directly overlooking the broad bay of Killala, Co.Mayo.
The Cottages are family run with personal attention given to all our guests.
We have won several awards for the architecture and gardens surrounding the cottages.
Cottages boast their own individual views overlooking the bay to Bartra island and Enniscrone . The cottages are fitted to a high standard to cater for all the needs of the family, with three bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen and a combined living and dining area, the focal point of which is a Liscannor stone fireplace
We are open all year round and welcome individuals and groups .The cottages are in the historic village of Killala with its famous Round tower- one of the finest in the country.

Description

There are many pubs with great food and music to suit all tastes from traditional to international.
We have a supermarket, newsagents, post office and a great butcher shop. The pier which is located beside the cottages has a lovely fish shop and a smoke salmon factory where smoked salmon can be purchased at better prices than in the larger supermarkets.

Directions

The cottages are located in the north west of Mayo on the coast. Ballina is the nearest large town - 10 minutes drive from the cottages. The train station and bus station are both located in Ballina, with a good supply of taxis at your service also.
There are two daily buses to Killala from Ballina also. Knock airport is approx 45 km from the cottages and the Ports in Dublinand Belfast are approx 3 hours drive from Killala. Rosslare Harbour would be approx 5 hours drive from the cottages.A detailed route can be obtained from us on request.

Rooms

Each cottage has two bedrooms downstairs, a double and twin, upstairs a dormer room with 3/4 beds, and ensuite in the larger cottages.
The bedrooms are fully carpeted and each cottage has gas central heating Bed linen is supplied free of change. Towels are for hire.

Facilities

The kitchen have gas or electric cookers ,microwave and all cooking utensils required, also washing machine and tumble drier.
The sitting room/dining room has an open fire and traditional liscannor flag floor. We have TV and DVD players in each living area.

Also there are many published writers and established artists living in the area who would be delighted to facilitate courses in both .
Special rates can be obtained to induviduals wanting to get away from the city to work in this highly creative envirnment.
Kilala
Killala is steeped in history and was closely associated with the 1798 Rebellion. It is a fantastic holiday destination for all the family and is an excellent angling centre, especially for shore angling along Killala Bay. Killala itself has a range of shops, pubs and restaurants and is a fantastic base for taking in some local sights which include the Ceide Fields – four square miles of walled fields which were concealed beneath bogland for 5000 years.

Beaches
The beaches in the area are all blue flag the nearest being Ross only 1.5km from the cottages, all great for watersports including swimming, surfing and diving.
Golf
We have many fantastic golf courses within easy driving, Cairn and Enniscrone are world-class courses a short drive away.
Family activities
There is something for all the family in Enniscrone just across the bay, approx 15km away. There is a large indoor pool with slides and wave machines. In Ballina there is also a great indoor fun centre for the 2-10year olds to keep amused on wet days. Castlebar Mayo's Capital town is approx 40 minutes drive and has a great indoor bowling and laser play area for the older children. Ballina our nearest large town has a great variety of restaurants.
