Derry Quay Lodge is located right on the shore of Lough Corrib with it’s own private jetty. The boats are moored in the jetty which is located in a bay called Salthouse Bay. The lake itself consists of mainly brown trout, salmon and pike. The most common type of fishing is fly fishing, but you can also troll the lake for large trout and pike. The season starts from February 15th to the end of September.
Top quality lake boats and engines are available for hire and lifejackets and maps are included. We also provide a ghillie service (boat operator and fishing guide) if required. This can be arranged through a local ghillie.
Woodcock and Snipe Shooting
At Derry Quay Lodge we provide for rough shooting for woodcock and snipe in the winter months. The owners of Derry Quay Lodge own the hunting rights to 30,000 hectares of both woodland and bogs. The season starts at the beginning of October and carries on right through until the end of January.
Derry Quay Lodge has three generations of experience in hunting. Here, you will be guided through out your stay with an experienced guide in both woodcock and snipe and along with his beaters and pickers provide a very professional approach to the hunt which in turn always makes the occasion a memorable one.
The woodcock, which is always driven, is a mix of natural woodland and some carefully selected forestry in the local area. Snipe is always walked up on some of the most beautiful bogs in the west of Ireland.
Depending on the weather conditions you also get some duck on the lake which is right outside you front door in Derry Quay Lodge this hunting is usually done early in the morning.
