Boffin Lodge is within easy walking distance of the centre of Westport town, where you will find all manner of fine pubs, restaurants and opportunities to go shopping. The harbour itself has been renovated and is home to good places to go for a drink or dine. The Clew Bay Heritage Centre is situated on the Quay and explains the entire history of the town and surrounding area. Westport House & Country Park and its gardens, which were added in the 20th century, are also well worth a visit.
There are plenty of activities you can get involved in, such as golf at Westport Golf Course, scenic country walks and there are plenty angling opportunities in the nearby rivers and lakes. Outside the town there's Croagh Patrick, Ireland's sacred mountain, where Saint Patrick founded a church. On the coastal side of things there are a number of sandy beaches as well as 365 islands in Clew Bay. One of them, Clare Island, was the home and base of the famous Irish pirate, Grace O Malley.
