The Forge is a wonderful 4 star self-catering holiday rental located close to Ballagan Shore in Carlingford, County Louth. The house is an 18th century farm building that has been lovingly restored and refurbished by the family. It lies snugly amidst the Carlingford countryside and is just a five-minute walk from the seashore.

The Forge is perfectly situated to tour the east coast of Ireland. Dublin and Belfast are just an hour from Carlingford while beach, walks, sea angling, golf, hiking and a host of other outdoor activities are only minutes away. Directions
From Dublin
Continue north on the M1 until you come to the Dundalk North turn off, and then turn off the motorway. At the roundabout take the R173 in the direction of Carlingford/Greenore. Proceed on this road for approximately 14km.
At Cooley Inn, take a right and follow that road up the hill for about 1km until you come to a Church on the left. Pass the church and take the first left on that road. About 0.25km down this road, the farmyard where The Forge is located in on the right hand side.

The Forge consists of 3 spacious bedrooms. Each of the bedrooms is beautifully decorated and furnished to the highest standard. There are two double beds and five single beds, two of the guestrooms have en-suite facilities. There is also a separate bathroom in the home.
There is a fully fitted kitchen with all modern conveniences. The sitting room is quite spacious and very bright and includes a TV and DVD player. Walk out to the garden and watch the little ones playing safely. The Forge is also wheelchair accessible.

Facilities in the home include washing machine, dryer, fridge, freezer, microwave, electric cooker, gas hob as well as iron and ironing board. Bed linen and towels are provided throughout your vacation. Secure parking is also available.

Carlingford is a picturesque town that won its first Tidy Towns competition in 1988 and since then has become one of the Heritage Towns of Ireland. And why not - ancient and historical Carlingford Castle is well worth a visit even just for the mesmerising architecture. Enjoy a guided tour at Holy Trinity Heritage Centre where exhibits of Carlingfords development from its Norman origins to now.
With such a wide variety of activities to get stuck into while staying at The Forge, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Golfing, angling, cycling and horse-riding can all be enjoyed. In the town of Carlingford, there is a heritage centre, a sailing club as well as an adventure centre where you can organise almost anything you can think of
Within 10kms
Hop in your car and take a trip down to Dundalk, a beautiful town at the head of Dundalk Bay. From there you can partake in The Táin Way, a walking route involving the adventures of Cúchulainn or more commonly know as ‘The Hound of Ulster’. The walk commences at the village of Ravensdale and travels through some mesmerising scenery, deep valleys and crystal clear Peninsula’s until you reach Carlingford.
Needless to say, you are with easy access to Dublin and Belfast if you decide to explore further. Whatever you reason for coming to Louth and for however long you decide to stay – you are certain to enjoy every moment with family and friends.
