Sarsfield's Ride: was a daring cavalry ride which took place during the Jacobite war in Ireland in August 1690. The purpose of the ride was to intercept a military siege train. Patrick Sarsfield took 600 of his men on the expedition. The ride took them westward from Limerick city, and in a circular route they doubled back to intercept the siege train.
