The river Shannon is the longest river Shannon and is tidal as far as Limerick city.

Foynes is a town that is closed the to the mouth of the river Shannon. It has a very vibrant yatch club whick has over 130 member witch all own various sizes of yatch and dinghies. These yatch can be seen racing around the Shannon area on Wednesday evenings in the summer and on Sundays in the month of September.
Race and events are usually on weekends as well.

The club house has modern changing facilities,  as well as a full serviced bar .
