Lough Allen Adventure Centre
The Lough Allen Adventure Centre is jus a short drive from the Lakeside Cottages and it offers a wide selection of activities including canoeing, windsurfing, hill walking and horse riding. They can cater for groups or for the individual.
Walking
Letrim has an untouched beauty that has to be experienced to be understood. There are a wide variety of walking and hiking options open to anybody who is interested.
Choose from the beautiful 30 mile trek from Drumshambo north to Manorhamilton on “The Leitrim Way”, or just take a quite stroll as the sun sets in the distance along one of the many canal systems. There is extensive information available to suit you, whatever your taste.
Cycling
There are two major cycle trails close to Lakeside Cottages. “The Kingfisher Trail” has been designed to give the traveller the widest variety of scenery through the Leitrim and Fermanagh lakelands.
This was the first long distance trail in Ireland and has three levels of difficulty; Casual, Active and Challenging. The Second trail is the “Tour de Humbert” which is the historic route taken by the French when they came to the aid of Ireland during the rebellion of 1798.
This 140 mile trail which is often erratic runs from Killala Bay in Co Mayo to Ballinamuck in Co Longford, passing through Letrim and Sligo along the way. You don’t have to try it all in one go you, can sample as little or as much as you like.
Equestrian
Moorlands Equestrian Centre is just a few miles from Lakeside Cottages on the shores of Lough Allen. This is a top quality facility where all your riding needs can be catered for.
There are both indoor and outdoor arenas where the fully qualified instructors can put you through your paces whether you are a novice or experienced rider. Everybody is guaranteed a great day out.
They also cater for disabled riders and those with special needs.
Golf - Fishing - Spa
Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club
Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club is a beautiful eighteen-hole course.
From the highest point, the view is close to breathtaking. The Boyle River and Drumharlow Lake - integral parts of the Shannon water system - touch the land that is being moulded into a great golfing experience.
Situated in mature parkland this course winds its way to the waters edge, through wetland and over hillocks that give it immediate definition and charm.
Ballinamore
The Shannon-Erne Waterway bounds the course on two fronts and adds to the difficulty of many holes.
Visitors are welcome at all times except during major competitions. Bar facilities and snacks during the summer months.
Fishing
Here at Lakeside Cottages, some of the best fishing in Europe is right on your doorstep, where you have 740km of the Shannon Erne Waterway to explore. Hundreds of lakes and hidden bends shaded by trees are just right to sit and wait for that perfect fish to bite, whether its Trout, Bream or any of the many varieties found around here.
There is a wealth of local knowledge available within the local community as fishing is serious business in this part of the world. So, whether you like to fish from a boat or stand on a shaded bank, the Shannon Erne Waterway has something for you.

When you stay as a guest here at the Lakeside Cottages you have use of the private facilities of the Pulses Spa and the Leisure center at the Lough Allen Hotel. A full range of treatments are available so you can stop in for a massage at the end of a long day or book a whole range of treatments and make a whole day out of pampering yourself.
The staff are fully trained and provide an excellent world class professional service. Leisure center The leisure center has an indoor swimming pool with sauna, steam room and gym. But if that all sounds like hard work just spend some time relaxing outside in the hot tub on the banks of Lough Allen.
