Take the Glenfarne road from Manorhamilton and turn right, signposted Caiseail. These caiseail are two Iron Age stone forts which date from about 500BC and they lie about 5km from the junction with the Glenfarne road. The road is narrow and crosses wild and beautiful scenery. Access to the forts is signposted and should be attempted by foot, leaving the car on the road. Boots are recommended as the ground underfoot is often soggy. Gates and fences need to be negotiated to reach the forts and care should be taken. Resume the drive, turning right at the main road to complete the circle to Manorhamilton. The long ridge, right is O'Donnell's Rock while, left is the impressive bulk of Benbo Mountain. Teampall Cluann Clair, a medieval church ruin which was recorded in the registry of Clonmacnois in 965 AD, can be seen, right, near the town.
