Gleann Aoibhinn is a perfect touring base for the surrounding area. Some of the finest places to visit include Lough Key Forest Park, which is 350 hectares of both forest and open parkland and lots more. Boyle Abbey, the ruins of a Cistercian order church and Strokestown House, a large 18th century mansion with large beautiful gardens and a Famine Museum, are also well worth a visit. Popular local activities include golf, angling and horse riding.
