Rated 9.4 by GoIreland customers (10 ratings)
Castlefield is a modern and eye catching bungalow style B&B, situated in a peaceful rural spot 2.5 miles outside Kilkenny city in County Kilkenny. It’s a resplendent house with a nicely decorated and fresh interior, as well as an excellent view looking out onto the River Nore. Its facilities include a high chair and cot so you can bring the kids along, as well as a private parking area where you can leave the car. There are four en suite bedrooms, each of them equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, a TV and a hair dryer.

From Kilkenny City go to the Carlow Rd roundabout taking the Carlow Rd exit, the Sion Rd is the 1st turn right after Maxol Station, 500m, B&B on right.
The whole premises is central heated and private parking is provided. Staying at Castlefield means you are only a short distance from Kilkenny city and it’s famous limestone architecture. See monuments such as Kilkenny Castle and the Black Abbey, or go for walks out on the nearby Slieveardagh Hills. Anglers can do a spot of fishing at the River Nore, while golfers are spoilt for choice with courses such as Kilkenny, Castlecomer, Callan and Mount Juliet all within close proximity.

We both felt very welcome at Castlefield, the host couldn't have been friendlier or more accomodating (local knowledge, ordering a taxi). Breakfast was excellent. Would highly recommend it.

The information about the location of the house is rather confusing because of the new road system. I would recommend strongly that better information is provided about the location of the house in relation to the new motorway and the roundabout at the Kilkenny end of the motorway. It would also be helpful if the owners could provide a map of Kilkenny city also showing the location of the house because the road signs in Kilkenny city are limited and not very helpful. The 9 for welcome is because the door bell was not working. Apart from that the welcome was fine. I thoroughly my stay at Castlefield and would strongly recommend it.
