Have a look at the majestic Kilkenny Castle and the famous Black Abbey. Other sites of note include St Canice’s Cathedral and the St Francis Abbey Brewery, home to Smithwicks and Kilkenny stout beer. Go for a round of golf at one of the local courses, or wander the hills of Sleiverdagh and Booley to the north of the city. Anglers can enjoy a days fishing at the River Nore, and of course if you enjoy a tipple then Kilkenny is the right place – there’s numerous bars and restaurants in town.
