The Pump House

Four Star
pumphouse-exterior
Barrowford
Athy
Kildare
The Pump House is a traditional style cottage, located on a farm in Athy, a heritage town in Co. Kildare.  It overlooks a beautiful Victorian lawn with native and exotic trees to the front and a cobblestone yard to the back.  This is the only rental accommodation on the farm, so you will experience the unique sensation of having the whole place to yourself! Make the most of it!

Take time out and relax in the cosiness of the cottage. Logs are provided for the stove throughout your stay so you can enjoy a real fire anytime you like. There are also a number of books, games and films available for you to enjoy, as well as a music centre, television and DVD player.

If you feel more energetic, go for a long stroll through our fields and along the river Barrow. Take time to admire the many mature trees and shrubbery around you, spot the wildlife and hear the birdsong. You can also enjoy a romantic boat trip or try your hand at fishing. Fishing, boating, walking or just unwind. Do as little or as much as you choose…
From Athy town centre, take the R417 towards Monasterevin. After about 1km take a left turn immediately after the Texaco petrol station. Drive about 50 metres and you will see facing you white gate posts. Go through the gate, drive down a long avenue and you will find The Pump House at the end.
Twin Bedroom
The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout, bright and spacious, with the guests' comfort and relaxation in mind. The extra large bed in the bedroom has a high quality zip and link mattress, which can transform it into two single beds.   There is also room for a fold out bed or cot.

The loft over the kitchen is accessible by a ladder and sleeps two more adults or older children in a double futon.

In the bathroom, you can choose between an energising shower or a deeply relaxing bubble bath - with room enough for two! - and enjoy the comfort of a heated floor, large, warm towels and even your own bathrobe.

Crisp cotton sheets, fluffy pillows, snug duvets, combined with fresh air and exercise, will ensure you have a peaceful night sleep!

Heating and electricity charges are all included in the rate, as well as bedlinen and bath towels. A continental breakfast welcome pack is offered to all our guests (bread, butter, milk, tea, coffee and sugar). Home made meals and babysitting services available on request.

Local Activities
All of these and many more are available either in Athy or within a short distance drive:

GOLF - In the town, Athy Golf Club and Cardenton House Par 3 offer a fair test of golf to all categories of players, while Kilkea Castle Golf Course is a short 10 minute drive away and is well liked for the immaculate condition of its tees and greens. Three of Ireland's best courses are also located within a 30-45 minute drive from our cottage: The K Club (venue for the Ryder Cup 2006 Matches), the PGA National Ireland and Carton House.

HORSE RACING -The Curragh, Naas and Punchestown are the nearest racecourses and host monthly meetings.
GREYHOUND RACING - a cheaper and exciting alternative to horse racing. Races take place in Newbridge every Friday and Saturday night.
MOTOR RACING - for 'would-be Schumachers' at Mondello Park Racing Circuit.
PAINT BALLING - a fun filled experience you'll never forget! Available in Stradbally.
Activities on our farm
FISHING/ROWING - The Barrow runs adjacent to our farm and offers fishing enthusiasts enjoyment all year round, with plenty of pike, bream and roach available. Guests are welcome to use our boat (for free) and picnic hampers are available to enjoy on the river bank!
FAUNA AND FLORA - ours is a visitor friendly farm and guests are welcome to roam through the fields and enjoy the countryside at close hand. There are many beautiful old trees dotted throughout the farm and a wide variety of wildlife and domestic animals can be seen: pheasants, rabbits, hares, hens, ducks, cows, a horse and a donkey. And while you're at it, don't forget to close your eyes and enjoy the magnificent bird song, particularly if you didn't get up to hear the Dawn Chorus at day break...
