When you arrive at Mondello Park for your Introductory Course or Beginners Course the first thing you do is meet you instructor, who will explain the very basic safety aspects of both Racing Saloon & Single Seater Racing Cars. You will also have to sign a registration form. Following this you will be taken onto the track, driven around int he saloon car by our instructor where he will point out areas for braking, accelerating and what 'line' to take. With this knowledge you will now swap places and take the wheel. At first you start of very slowly but witht he help of your instructor you will build up a regular, safe speed. Satisfied with your performance so far in the Introductory Course you can take the wheel of the saloon car for ten solo timed laps. This phase in the Beginners course now allows you to learn the controls of the Single Seater Racing Car. After being strapped in you will drive onto the track in a car totally different from the saloon or any car you have possibly driven! Under the watchful eye of your instructor, you can develop your technique for a minimum of ten laps. Naturally if things are'nt going too smoothly, your instructor will flag you in to guide you where you may be going wrong. At the end of a session, you wil be debriefed. This, we have found in the past to be an informative and important part of the day. Once you have completed an Introductory or Beginners Course, you can graduate into the Intermediate Course. This is where, under close observation from your instructor you will get a chance to practice and improve your technique. As in the beginners course, if your instructor feels that you need some advice he will flag you in. Having completed a minimum of three intermediate courses and depending on your ability, you may apply for an Advance Course. This consists of driving around the full 1.16 mile famous Mondello Park Circuit. As in the beginners, you will drive in the Saloon before taking the wheel of the single seater. By the time you have finished this you should be a fully competent circuit driver. During all the above courses your laps will be monitored and timed then presented to you at the debriefing stage.
