The Curragh is the headquarters of Flat Racing in Ireland, hosting all five Classic Races including the Budweiser Irish Derby and thirteen other quality racedays. It is owned and managed by the Irish Turf Club, founded in Kildare in 1790 to encourage the sport of Horse Racing. The Course is easily accessible by motorway and rail, offering spectacular views of the Curragh plains and the Wicklow mountains.

Description
The highlight of the racing year at the Curragh is the Irish Derby. Often uniting the winners of the English and French Derby's in a head to head of epic proportions, the Irish Derby is one of Europe's richest races.
First run at the Curragh in 1866 this famous Classic has a legendary reputation for bringing out the best in horses and riders. It also ranks as Ireland's premier sporting and social event.

The Curragh is the headquarters of thoroughbred racing in Ireland catering for all five Classic races as well as thirteen other prestigious meetings during the flat racing season. There is no Reserved Enclosure at the Curragh Racecourse except for the Budweiser Irish Derby Meeting.

Racing by Rail: You can buy a combined race admission & return ticket - Dublin (Hueston Station) - Curragh Racecourse for all Saturday and Sunday race meetings. Check train schedules before you go - Contact Iarnrod Eireann for details. Racing by Bus: A race bus leaves Busaras, Store Street, Dublin 1, for Curragh each race day and departs the racecourse a half hour after the last race. Departure times from Busaras may vary, contact Bus Eireann for details.
