Carlton Abbey is a superb 4 star hotel located in the heart of the heritage town of Athy, Co. Kildare. This landmark building, which was once the Sisters of Mercy convent, has been carefully restored to retain some of its original features.

The hotel exudes charm and has a distinctive character making it a popular holiday destination in Ireland. The on-site Fitness Centre and C-Spa are the perfect haven for rest and relaxation. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated with modern convenience behind a backdrop of rich woods and clean crisp linens. Enjoy a great meal and a cool drink at the hotels bar, located in the original chapel.

Athy is steeped in local history, dating back over 1,800 years. A stroll around the town will lead you to such sites as the old courthouse, Woodstock Castle, Crom a Boo bridge and Whites Castle. Try your hand at a round of golf on some of the best Champion Golf Courses in Ireland like the K Club or Kilkea Castle to mention a few. Enjoy a day at the races in world class Racecourses such as the Curragh and Punchestown.  Kildare has an abundance of things to see and do to delight and surprise you throughout your stay.
Only 45 minutes from Dublin and close to Naas, Newbridge and Kildare, Athy is centrally located to suit the needs of every traveller.

When coming from Dublin, at the Red Cow Roundabout take the exit onto the N7 (signposted The South N8, N9). At Newlands Cross traffic signals continue forward on the N7. Continue forward to join Motorway M7 (signposted Limerick, Cork).

At junction 11 take left hand lanes, then join the M9 motorway (signposted Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow). Leave the M9 Motorway, then turn right onto the N78 (signposted Athy). Continue forward onto Dublin Road N78. Entering Athy. Continue to Main Traffic Lights. Turn Right for Monasterevin Road. The hotel is on right as you continue driving.
Standard Room
Consisting of 50 rooms, including standard rooms, superior rooms and apartments, there is something to suit everyone at the Carlton Abbey Hotel.

Our standard rooms are finished with a large double bed, a double and single bed or two single beds. With your comfort in mind they include crisp white linen, soft fluffy towels, luxury toiletries, bath and showers, teak wood paneling, interactive television and complimentary broadband connections.  Each room has direct dial telephone, hairdryer, ironing facilities and a tea/coffee making unit.
Bededicts Restaurant
The history of the building is evident throughout the hotel, particularly in our Abbey Bar which was once a church. Originally built in the early 1850's the architectural design is truly inspirational - the ceiling stretches nearly 60 feet skywards.  Original features such as the floor tiles, choir gallery, light fittings and stain glass windows all come together to offer the most unique of Carlton experiences. Serving food from 10:00am until 9.30pm daily you can choose from our extensive menu which offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar also hosts a live band every Friday and Saturday night.

Benedicts, our main restaurant, is an intimate fine dining experience quite at home in the opulent setting of the hotel. Choose from a sumptuous menu featuring a range of dishes from around the world created by our chefs using the very best local produce.

Famous for its horses, racing and stud farms, Kildare’s famous racecourses – The Curragh – Punchestown and Naas are the home to exciting racing festivals, while the Irish National Stud is testament to the county’s strong horse breeding tradition. The county offers a range of special interests in addition to horse racing and horse riding such as golf, motor racing, fishing and ecology, cruising and walking.

County Kildare’s many heritage attractions are of great importance and provide much to interest the visitor. Note the heritage towns of Athy and Kildare, Leixlip where ‘Guinness’ was first brewed and the University town of Maynooth. Visit the many houses and gardens such as the magnificent Castletown or experience Peatland World Visitor Centre that interprets the wilderness of the Bog of Allen.
 

The C Spa

The Abbey C Spa is the Carlton Abbey's Spa centre located at the hotel. The Spa has become known as a premier Spa within the area offering a range of treatments.
There are 9 relaxing treatment rooms covering over 2 floors. The Spa has a choice of relaxation rooms serving light refreshments or a herbal tea during your spa visit.
 
There is a wide range of relaxing treatments to suit both men and women. These range from C Spa signature treatments such as Rassul, Vichy and Algotherapy to light massage. C Spa also offer over 50 treatments such as dry floatation and body wraps along with the Carlton Executive Treatment and C Spa Cleansing Ritual.

The Abbey C Spa looks to relax the body but also the mind and spirit for overall well being. Allow the strains of life evaporate in the Spa's pool area before or after your treatment. The Spa also caters for body polishes, pedicures, manicures and tints.

All products used at the Spa are from the Elemis range which have strong anti-ageing properties.

There is a team of professional Spa staff who can advise on the ideal treatment for you. There is a treatment for any guest and the Spa is well worth a visit durig your stay.

Guests at The Abbey C Spa can use the pool facilities and, to receive the best results from your treatments, it is suggested to use this facility prior to your spa treatment.
