Valentia Island is a walker's paradise. Bray Head is one of the most popular walks on the south side of the island. Here you can see the remains of the 16th-century beehive huts and look out across the small village of Portmagee and its harbour. Rising from the Atlantic are the Skellig Islands, where hermit monks lived between the 7th and 12th century.
Walk to the magnificent site of the lighthouse, once a Cromwellian fort, where you will have amazing views of the Atlantic and across to the mainland.
When on the Island make sure to visit the Grotto, mined for slate in the 18oos. The Grotto now houses a statue of the Virgin Mary.
Other activities which are popular on the Island include angling, scuba diving, and cycling.

The house was so central in Knightstown, a nice distace for walking safely into the villiage! There is just so much to do on the island and its so relaxing, you would not want to leave it to go back onto the mainland!
