The Dun Chaoin Ferry Company operates from the pier in the scenic village of Dun Chaoin. You can take a trip to to The Great Blasket island  and experience first hand what life was like for the inhabitants in years gone by. The |sland has been uninhabited since 1953 however in recent years many of the original buildings have been restored. This is also the home place of the well known Irish writer Peig Sayers. The company also operates Ecotours of the island which is home to red deer, seabirds seals and many other delights.
