The Kerry Bog Village Museum and Village at Glenbeigh on the magnificent Ring of Kerry is a unique rural attraction to delight young and old who are interested in finding out more on the domestic lifestyles of the Irish in the earlly 1800's. It aims to create a period setting where you can visit and experience the past and understand the way of life in Ireland during this era.

Description
The village consists of six separate dwellings delightfully restored and neatly laid out to reflect as much as possible its original setting. These include, The Turf cuner's House, Home of Jeremiah Mulvihill, founder of the village, Jack Bell O'Sullivan's Forge complete with bellows for the blacksmith's fire, a combined stable and Dairyhouse which was shared by the family of Phil MacGillycuddy and their animals, the Village labourer's conage and hen house and finally, the fine home of thatcher, Paddy Brown, who as a skilled tradesman was much respected in the community.
All details have been researched prior to being recreated and great care taken to ensure the dwellings are exact replica's of those in Ireland at the time. Old sites were visited, ruins measured, and old documents consulted in order to achieve the most effective illustration. Indeed, you will see in the village an old blacksmith's forge, which was brought stone by stone, from Brosna, a small village in North Kerry.
The Bog Village aims to preserve the past for your enjoyment and future generations for many years to come.
