The Dingle Peninsula is particularly notable in its scenery of mountain and coast and is of interest on account of its antiquities. From Slea Head one can see the Blasket Islands which are the last outposts of Europe and are known as the "next parish to America". This peninsula was also the location for the film "Ryan's Daughter". Many of the local community speak Gaelic as their first language.
