Caitin's is supposed to be one of the first legalised 'shebeens' in Ireland. Steeped in history and folklore, the pub has been patronised by some of Irelands most famous statesmen, such as Daniel O'Connell and the literary great Brendan Behan. O'Connell's visits were legendary. It's known that on his many journeys he stopped here to change horses and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and wholesome food.
The pub has evolved over the centuries from a two-room 'shebeen' to one of the most famous stopping-points on the Ring of Kerry. Today it continues to provide you with the best of food, drink and entertainment, all served at this unique old-world setting.
Caitins is located beside the impressive old GSWR railway viaduct. It has among its many attractions a splendid collection of photographic memorabilia, which depicts the local area from the early 1800s.
