Approximately fifteen miles from Mullingar, Kilbeggan is home to Locke's Distillery Museum believed to be the oldest Pot Still Distillery in the world. Visit to see how the famous Locke's whiskey was distilled. Guided tours available. There is also a Craft Shop and a Coffee Shop. Also in Kilbeggan is the only Turf Club approved race course in Westmeath....

The course measures 1 mile and 2 furlongs and it's a right-hand course. National Hunt and Flat races are taken place here through out the year,  with day and evening meetings. The main races are in October  where the Kilbegnet Novice Chase is the main feature. 
Many horses that have ran at Roscommon went on to run at the Ascots and Cheltham Races. These include  "Imperial Call" and "Enzeli"....
