Butlersbridge, Cavan

Butlersbridge is a trout angling centre on the Annalee River and contains a very photogenic inn which is a popular stopping place on the road. Butlersbridge is a picturesque village sited on the Annalee River, just before it enters Lough Erne. Butlersbridge is located just 5km north of Cavan town on the N3.

Lough Lee lies nearly midway between the B72 Ederny-Castlederg road and the B50 Armagh-Castlederg road. It is approached off a by road from the north and there is a walk of abour 1 mile following the marker posts. Brantry Lough lies off the B128 Aughnacloy - Benburb road and approximately 6 miles south of Dungannon. This is a rich limestone Lough holding brown trout. It is situated in a very sheltered position which can make the fishing very difficult at times. There are hatches of chironomids, olives, even some mayfly and a good sedge hatch. This Reservoir is situated at the head of the Bush River, four and a half miles north east of Clough Mills. It is in a very attractive location with pine forest to the north and south.
